Almost done. I wish.
Week #1: finished.
Paula: sore, tired, already bored with classes, lonely without a distraction, full-scheduled though not as full as it will be, but haven't ruined any grades as of yet.
I have an odd urge to ask, "are we finished yet?" over and over and over. I'll try to restrain myself.
Jennica and Kathleen: come back soon, I miss you.

I miss you too!! My host family is nice, but basically the only interaction I have with them is during meals. I've been here for two weekends so far and they left me alone (i.e. they traveled elsewhere) for both of them. On one hand it's nice to have the independence, esp. with all my work, but it's certainly not the social interaction for which I had hoped. I miss the Christian environment of Hope (yes, even disagreeing with some of the conservatives). A lot of the students here drink a lot, aren't religious, and apparently 4 out of the other 6 students in my French class have smoked marijuana. Thankfully my host family is Catholic and they say grace before every meal. I don't know if they go to church on Sundays b/c they haven't been around on a Sunday morning yet. I don't know... I can't say that I have culture shock b/c I didn't have a lot of expectations, but my life here certainly is different from life in Holland, MI. Imagine that. ;)
Enough rambling for now, I'll send you a letter soon.

Dear Paula, Jen and Kath--
I love it when you friends write in, and I enjoyed the comment about the German typewriter. When Bob travels to Germany, I treasure the messages where he says, "I love zou." Tee-hee. I love zou girlies--Mom G
